Wyndham City was pleased to reopen the Plaza Library on Tuesday (9th June) and Point Cook Library is due to open its doors on Monday 15th June.
Both libraries will be reopening to the public with extensive hygiene and cleaning practices in place as well as limited services due to social distancing and other government directions.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Josh Gilligan said a maximum of 20 people will be allowed to be in the building at any one time, so people seeking to use this service may experience queues and wait times.
“We are very pleased to be opening the Plaza Library from 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and Point Cook Library from 10am to noon and from 2pm to 5pm Monday to Friday.”
“Items will be able to be borrowed but use of a computer or study space will be limited to 30 minutes,” Cr Gilligan said.
“The usual physical distancing measures will be in place, and we ask library users to maintain at least 1.5 metres between themselves and and practice good hygine when is this shared space”
“Unfortunately, at this time we are not able to restart our group activities or accommodate study groups.”
“The libraries will also be closed on weekends.”
“We are currently working through a process to reopen other libraries, community centres, the Youth Resource Centre and Council buildings as safely as possible, and will provide you with an update as this occurs.”
Council continues to run a range of library services online and can offer all students a free eMembership giving them access to a range of educational and learning resources, e-books, apps and a live student tutoring service (Studiosity). Library memebers are also able to have books delivered directly to their house.
This can be accessed at www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/libraries and our library staff can provide support on how to sign up and access these eResources by contacting the Library on 8734 2600.
