Dimitri Petratos replaces Massimo Luongo in Socceroos’ squad

Football Federation Australia has advised that Newcastle Jet Dimitri Petratos has replaced Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Massimo Luongo in the Caltex Socceroos’ squad for the forthcoming FIFA window.

Luongo played in England overnight however has been managing a minor knee issue, and following discussions with Australia’s coaching and medical staff it has been decided not to risk him over the coming weeks.

Caltex Socceroos Head Coach, Graham Arnold, said: “Massimo (Luongo) pulled up sore after coming off in last night’s game and due to the short turnaround between now and Thursday’s match, combined with the long-haul flight from Europe, we have decided not to take any risks with him and will bring Dimitri (Petratos) in.”

Tickets for Thursday’s match between Australia and Nepal are available via socceroos.com.au.

The fixture will also be broadcast live in Australia on FOX SPORTS, ABC TV, Kayo Sports, and via the My Football Live App, Live, Fast and Data Free for Telstra mobile customers.
